New Housing Is a Fast Moving Market in Many Parts of the Country
Building is booming in many parts of the country. As a result, there are many states that are in need of people who have completed the contractors license exam prep work and are ready to be tested. Every building project requires licensed contractors, and in a time when there are so many buildings in process, it is not always easy to find the contractors with the right certifications. As a result, there are many places where there are many contractors license prep classes being offered. And while the numbers may vary from one state to the next, Arizona contractor bond services are in especially high demand.
The Nevada State Contractors Board is just one of the groups in this country that is working to fill in the gaps when it comes to offering training and testing more potential license holders. With a market share of around 10%, the U.S. is the second largest construction market worldwide and continues to grow. This growth, however, can cause problems, like the availability of Arizona contractor bond services. Finding a way to fill in this gap is a challenge, but it also provides new job possibilities for schools that can offer the Arizona contractor bond services test prep and training.
Building Houses Generates Money for a Number of Different Industries
From wood workers to plumbers to electricians, there are so many contractors that are involved in the building process. In addition to the traditional building that so many of us think about, however, there are also other jobs for people who specialize in artistic tiling and stucco ceiling, as well as concrete workers and landscaping teams. In fact, when any area experiences a large number of new building contracts it can often be difficult to find enough workers to complete all of the needed jobs.
Although numbers can vary from one state to another, consider these statistics about Nevada, a fast growing state that continues to have a high demand for Arizona contractor bond services, as well as other difficult to fill positions:
- Two in three construction professionals believe their market will continue to grow throughout the next year, according to data from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
- Thanks in large part to gains in the commercial sector, the construction industry continues to grow. In 2017, for example, the construction industry added 210,000 jobs, with 30,000 of those being added in the month of December alone. This number was an increase from the 155,000 new jobs in 2016.
- The U.S. construction market was worth approximately $1,162 billion in 2016.
- Approximately 8.4 million people were employed within the construction industry in the U.S. in 2017.
- Nearly 75% of Arizona contractors said they had a difficult time filling construction vacancies in the year 2017. Additionally, 68% of Arizona contractors said they increased pay for those jobs in order to meet demand. That year, at least 19,000 new homes were expected to be constructed in Phoenix alone, so these contractors expect to still have a difficult time filling all of the available positions.
- Private construction spending reached $899 billion in 2016 in the U.S. By 2021, however, new construction put in place is forecast to reach more than $1.4 trillion.
While the average person may walk 10,000 steps a day, a construction laborer or worker may walk more than 30,000. The physical aspect of the contract work may be one of the reasons why there are so many openings in some of these fields. In order to get a contract license, you have to not only pass a test, put have a working knowledge of many kinds of skills that are involved in the building process. In fact, it is only after working several years in the field that people even feel qualified to start preparing for the exam. If the nation is going to continue with its current robust economy, however, the need for these specially trained individuals will continue to grow.
A growing economy is a good thing, but it should come as no surprise that there are many job sectors, construction among them, that are struggling to find all the workers they need to meet the demand.
