How Drones Can Enhance Learning In High Schools - Living History Worldwide

Americans have always loved making things fly whether it’s kites or wooden air planes. Today that fascination has turned to drones, which are all the rage. Today the drone industry is worth $100 billion and drones have quickly become one of the must-have gifts on kids’ wish list.

There’s plenty of reasons why drones are great for kids and for families:

  • Drones these days are very easy to fly with kids being able to fly them by controlling their phones.
  • Drones are a great way for kids to link technology with reality and it gives them a reason to get outside and enjoy the fresh air.
  • Drones are great for filming areas that are hard to get to. This can be great for checking areas of your home where you think there might be issues.
  • Drones can actually help with landscaping projects, such as roofing where families can use drones to check the condition of shingles.
  • Drones can be great for capturing fun family photos on vacation.
  • Drones are just fun and a great satisfy curiosity when it comes to checking things out.

While drones are fun for kids and families, there’s no doubt that they’ve become integral in many different lines of work. From construction drone services to drone camera training to engineering drone services to healthcare, journalism and law enforcement, it seems everyone is making use of drones on the job.

Another area where drones have proven useful is in schools where drones for schools programs have opened up a whole new world of possibilities for students to learn. Drone training for high school makes classes more interactive, keeps students engaged and makes lessons more topical. Drone training for high school makes students more excited for learning, improves their orientation and motor skills and also helps them better understand the world around them.

Believe it or not, drone training for high school can applied to many specific school subjects in the follow ways:

  • Math: For many educators, math can be a hard subject to teach. This is especially true of some of the tougher subjects in high school such as trigonometry, geometry and calculus. Fortunately, drones can help breathe new life into complex math subjects by showing kids real world applications of equations and complex problems. Drones can also be used to learn trig concepts and to create graphs.
  • STEM: Drone training for high school can also be useful for teaching Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Using drones in this pathway can help students learn about electronics, chemistry, physics and several other subjects. Drones are also a perfect way to teach students, especially high schoolers, about the basics of programming. This is a skill that’s useful in many lines of work and ultimately kids can put the skills they learn to use later in life.
  • Social Studies: Drones can be useful in this subject too. Teachers can use them to help students learn about geography, cartography as well as local history. Students can then use this information to create multimedia projects, videos and presentations.
  • Social skills: There’s plenty of knowledge that text books can impart to students in school. But text books don’t have the same effect on every student and some benefit more from visual learning. This is where drones come in. Drones can give students real-world knowledge and provide a fun way to teach the benefits of teamwork. Group projects with drones teach students about communication, about teamwork, about listening, about flexibility and other skills such as empathy and self-learning.

Drones have many benefits in high schools, but they’re also been used at the college level where they have been applied to field such as engineering, architecture, journalism, archelogy and agriculture just to name a few.

As noted above, drone training for high school can be very beneficial as students learn real-world examples of math, social students, STEM and other subject while getting a chance to improve their social skills and apply the lessons they learn in practical, fun and exciting ways.
